Porthcothan Bay provided the Cornish setting for the scenes of Nampara Cove, the beach close to Ross Poldark’s residence in the 2015 BBC adaptation of Winston Graham’s Poldark. We are so lucky to be spoilt with 4 beaches all within 4 miles of us, Holywell Bay, a totally unspoilt National Trust haven of dunes to explore (dog friendly all year round), Crantock Beach, another National Trust Beauty, with a couple of fabulous spots to reward yourself with a well earnt cake (C-Bay being our favourite), and a family favourite due to more amenities being available and the all-important fish and chips or pasty at Perranporth Beach. Not forgetting the famous Fistral surfing spot, where you can take in some of Rick Steins Fish and Chips whilst admiring the amazing wave riders.
